Laser Cut Love, Part 1 : Wall Decor

Beautiful "Silhouettes" by Andrew Tanner Design

I am so inspired by all wonderful laser cut design I am seeing lately. Hopefully we will have a few projects of our own up soon. In the past, David has made beautiful mobiles and jig-saw cut screens, and the laser cutter at school opens a whole new range of possibilities.

I love the these laser cut mirrored acrylic Cuckoo Clocks by Brooklyn Based, Klaus Rosburg of Sonic Design. I especially love that the second clock is comprised of two separate pieces, both slightly offset from the wall, creating a whole new dimension playing on light and shadows, which could change with the time of day. (Available online at elsewares)

I've been seeing this gorgeous "birds of a feather" mobile by Lost Angeles based designer Helen Ige, in some of my favorite shoppes around Chicago. The walnut veneer wood hangs beautifully as a mobile, and the laser cut origins are celebrated with the "pop-out" packaging, which can be reused for "stenciling or other art projects."

This may be purchased online at elsewares

design*sponge recently did a post about Australian designer Miranda Moreira of bride and wolfe (above) who creates these magical laser cut designs.

House in Ukraine

Love this wonderful "floating" house we stumbled upon in Google Earth, 1 km from Krasnosilka, Odes'ka Oblast (Ukraine).

THRILLIST Chicago

" It's important to commune with Mother Nature, but who the hell communes with anyone without getting tore up first? Get primal-y primed, with Animal Shot Glasses.

From Japanese trinket-maestros Goody Grams, these 2oz black-glass shot glasses come with a black pewter base intricately carved into one of four beastie-heads. Your quaffer-choices: a bull or bear, both looking contemplatively up to the sky (checking out their own constellations?), a surly looking buck, and a stubby-horned rhino clearly crippled by keratin-protruding-from-the-head envy. After taking down your favorite courage-enabler, flip the glass over and it'll balance upright on its thoughtfully designed head 'til you're ready for another round with the most gut-thrashing animal of all...The Famous Grouse?

Thrillist - Animal Shot GlassesA brush with nature isn't ridiculously expensive, but given the craftsmanship, it's pricey enough that you probably don't want to smash them into the fireplace, at least 'til the Bull returns to gore the Bear.

Get a single animal shot at StitchChicago.com or go all Noah and grab a set of two at GNR8.biz

{brilliantly teeny weeny cactus in a teeny weeny glass jar}

That Charles and Marie are f*ing brilliant. A "teeny weeny cactus in a teeny weeny glass jar" HELLO? YES! I am getting them
all... and because they only cost $11, you'll probably be getting one too. Sorry to ruin the surprise and Merry Christmas Now we will all have our very own living key chain. It only needs a teardrop of water now and then. The best part- you can plant it once it out grows the jar.
