bed frames

there's an amazing idea for all those metal twin bed frames we've seen. we could just weld a piece of metal onto them to form a bench. and then you could get a foam piece, like you got for the crib, and the sew a cool cover on it. genius!

tadashi kawamata

this is tadashi kawamata's work. it mixes art with architecture. i kind of like the ones that are more art (meaning there's no space to actually occupy) then the ones that deal strictly with architectonic spaces.

though this is cool architecture, similar to what i tried to do in my project for school.

this is a tree house that he did in madison square park in new york

this is not a good website.

lot-ek

this is by far my favorite architecture firm. they came from napoli, now they live in new york. where they openned this firm called lot-ek. they do buildings, renovations, objects, urban design and installations.

here an excerpt from their statement:

lot-ek is making architecture with existing objects, systems and technologies to be used as raw materials

lot-ek is the dialogue between existing objects and program needs to generate unexpected volumes/spaces

check it out: www.lot-ek.com

Cephalopods: As re:BECCA and I begin to explore ideas for creating wallpaper, I am drawn to a friend of mine's fascination with cephalopods.  The fleshy musculature of the octopus is beautifully organic in shape and offers inspiration for simple shapes that display movement and repetition.

Telefon Tel Aviv : Charlie Cooper

This is a sad time because my very talented and very cheeky friend Charlie Cooper passed away last week. He was half of the electronic duo Telefon Tel Aviv, who had just released their third album, Immolate Yourself. This is a huge loss for his community as well as for the music world. He will be missed.

Covet Digital

I am still searching for the perfect digital watch. Here are some favorites (no surprise, both are from Charles and Marie) so far:

I would prefer the black band with the green display:

Keith's Bicycle Track

The Museum of the City of New York has an excellent image collection, as well as decent lectures. Love the above 1907 photograph "Keith's Bicyle Track" from The Byron Collection.
