a friend of mine in new york just sent me this amazing image of a paper cut out that says 'PAPER' which is hung it from a crack in the ceiling on the subway, and depending on where you looked at it, you can see the fluorescent right behind it, or the shadow it cast from the light opposite... pretty neat.

i love the colors, and this gives me hope that the cell-phone snapshot could actually have some artful potential.

Motherless Child

{actually find the poor video rather appropriate}


One of my all-time favorite songs is Portishead featuring Tom Jones in Motherless Child. The song is so amazing though that just about every rendition is moving (except that Kathleen Emery bit) such this one by Odetta, here very old. I also love how Mathalia Jackson seamlessly combines Summertime and Motherless Child... note how rocking chair chic she is!
